The world that we live in has some amazing and beautiful sights on offer.
Some of them are such amazing places in the world that they simply call out to
visitors from all around. From man-made structures constructed beyond excellence
to the wondrous sights offered by Mother Nature, our world has everything on
offer. Although there are numerous places in the world beyond description, I
have listed below my pick of the top five places that must be visited by
everyone during their lifetime.
Colorado Grand Canyon
Located in the United States, the Colorado River has cut one of the steepest
gorges in the world. 18 miles wide, over 1 mile deep and over 275 miles long,
this gorge is humongous. It is said to have been cut by the River Colorado over
a period of 6 million years. The Grand Canyon is also one of the most visited
places in the world.
The Great Barrier Reef in Australia
The Great Barrier Reef in Australia is one of the most amazing places in the
world and is also the largest coral reef in the world. Not only is this natural
wonder a National Heritage site in Australia, it is also a World Heritage site.
Although it is now in danger due to the effects of global warming, it is a must
visit place for all travel enthusiasts.
The Taj Mahal in India
A true depiction of love and beauty, the Taj Mahal is one of the seven
wonders of the world. The Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built it in memory of his
wife Mumtaz Mahal. Situated in the city of Agra and close to the New Delhi, the
Taj Mahal is also a World Heritage site.
Machu Picchu in Peru
Meaning 'Old Peak', this ancient historical place is found in the country of
Peru and is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It was considered a
sacred place by the Incan people. Machu Picchu has some beautiful stone
structures that were built by the Incas which truly take away one's breath.
The Egyptian Pyramids
One of the most amazing places in the world, the Pyramids of Egypt need no
introduction at all. Built over several centuries years ago, the most famous of
the lot are the Pyramids of Giza. History records suggest that each pyramid took
over 20 years to build and the entire pyramids were built over several hundred
years.
