There are essentially three types of accommodations tourists can choose from
when arranging their holiday in Bulgaria - book a hotel room, rent a private
apartment or rent a villa. Increasingly, private villas have become the
preferred option for a number of tourists, and understandably so. Renting a
villa comes as close as possible to having a home away from home - with all the
conveniences of privacy, a garden, multiple rooms, and verandas. The villas are
also in more quaint places, a few kilometers from the main resorts with
excellent opportunity for rest and relaxations while preserving proximity to the
services available at the resorts.
Kosharitza is a case in point. Kosharitza is a small village on the Bulgarian
Black Sea coast situated about 5 km inland from the major Bulgarian resort of
Sunny Beach. Sunny Beach features dozens of hotels and condo buildings, bars and
restaurants, coffee shops and discos, and, yes, noise. In comparison, Kosharitza
is slightly elevated on a hill with spectacular views of the bay of Sunny Beach.
Getting from there to Sunny Beach takes less than 10 minutes, yet one can
experience the fresh air of the mountain along with the summer breeze. There are
a number of private houses and villas available for rent.
Kosharitza is only one example but one can find villas for rent throughout
the country: in Aprilci at the foothills of the Central Balkan mountains, around
the picturesque old capital of Bulgaria Veliko Turnovo, around the ski resort of
Bansko, as well as in numerous small villages around the country such as
Glavatarci, Petrevene, and Osenovo.
Private villas are also a great deal. With 3-4 rooms they can easily
accommodate large parties or several families. Take for example one villa in the
village of Petrevene that has been rented out for a few years. This is a
renovated 120 year old house, with preserved solid stone walls and the original
hardwood floors. With all modern conveniences, the three bedrooms of the house
can easily accommodate three families. The large backyard features beautiful
landscaping, a fish pond, an old barn, and a large lawn. The spacious veranda
has a dinner table that sits 12. A gas/wood fired barbeque is available to the
guests. Inside, a fireplace warms the entire house. From Petrevene, which is
only an hour away from the capital Sofia, one can visit several caves,
eco-trails, monasteries and towns with restored old centers such as Lovetch.
And, the villa is available for 150 euro (200 USD) per week.
