Although it is a very small island off the coast of Canary Islands in Spain,
it is overwhelming with fame. Blessed with varieties of vegetation around the
island and a great natural beauty, the place can be called the most preferred
tourist spot.
Places of visit:
There is a volcano called the El Golfo on the Island. The lava from the
volcano drops into the sea from a height of about 700 meters. This is a most
spectacular view on this island which can be viewed from as near as possible.
The lava drops at many points into the sea. The island is rich in cliffs. These
huge cliffs are declared a national treasure, because according to scientists
these cliffs have much geo- morphological importance. In fact many scientific
studies are still going on in this regard. One of the most important cliffs is
called Timiijiraque which is a very huge cliff surrounded by natural
vegetation.
In the midst of this Island is a beautiful mountain called the Ventejis. The
spellbound beauty of the mountain should be seen rather than explained. History
says that it was here that a great storm knocked the Garoe Holy Tree. That was
in the 17th Century.
There is a great National Park. This Frontera Rural national park is the
largest park. The park is rich in many varieties of rarest species of plants.
This is the most ideal place for spending a quiet day walking and relaxing.
Those who are interested in having a look at the great natural carvings of rocks
should visit El Julan. The natural fury can be seen in the La Restinga volcano
area.
Every city of Spain has museums and so also this Island. The El Hierro Craft
Centre located in Valverde is worth visiting. There is also another great museum
located in Frontera. This museum called the Guinea Eco museum concentrates more
on the ecological aspects.
The hotels serve the famous Vina Frontera Blanco white wine and many of the
most delicious local specialties. There are many villas and hotels to care for
the tourist.
