France is definately one of the most romantic countries in the world, beautiful gardens and quiet landscape interspersed with vineyards and small villages. The ornate buildings have been a particular attraction from centuries past,and today, France is still one of the most travelled destinations throughout the world.
Looking at Bordeaux it is easy to understand the history of chivalry and elegant lore. Wines produced in this region, scattered with 18th century buildings, are said to be amongst the best in the world, grapes grown on a land with a great deal to 'tell the world'. Whilst holidaying in France it is easy to see the influence of the Vikings ships, the Romans occupation and the English castles over the centuries, as the French loved their customs, developing a people and a nation who loved their culture. The well known Notre Dame Cathedrale in the capital was built during the 12th century and in the turmoil of change, the Louvre was first used as a fortress. These 18th century buildings often receive many tourists, and show the change in French culture over the centuries. Regardless of who was in power the French remained uniquely patriotic pulling other nations to their energy century after century, and still, to this day.
The city of Bordeaux is most gracious with both vineyards and historical value. The Cathedrale St. Andre is located in Bordeaux, this historical cathedral has a wall built in 1096. There are other historical churches located close by. The Quartier Saint Eloi entertains the Great Bell of the City. There are quaint areas to stay, and travel is convenient. Another site of outstanding beauty in Bordeaux is Pont de Pierre, a lovely bridge that was built by Napoleon. Visiting some of the country's museums are an absolute delight, and Mont St Michel, is truly beautiful.
Hotels and cafes are in abundance and will easily take care of the need for an appetising snack and a comfortable hotel in the French tradition. France is well known around the world for its food, the city of Bordeaux is no exception, an active nightlife and artistic events keep the city alert. Driving to this city of France is easy and to fly is not seriously expensive. Trains are very frquent in France and a great way to get to Bordeaux quickly and efficiently. The trip to Bordeaux is about three hours and leave on a schedule of every two hours from Paris.
No trip can be taken to France without enjoying the cuisine. France has such a selection of cheeses, breads and pastries of many different flavours. The food menus can be compared to, fine paintings executed by the best artist in the world, only edible. Whilst in Bordeaux participation in a wine and cheese tasting is essential. Visiting some of the area's beautiful castles and some of the finest vineyards in the region. The hotel concierge can be hrlpful to find local tours or go online. The whole experience of travelling through France can be very pleasurable. Enjoy the late spring before the weather is too hot or in October when the Autumn arrives, tourists will be less and visiting sites at your own pace, will give you the time to reflect on the sheer beauty of this wonderful country and enjoy the many pleasures that France has to share.
