Villa rentals in Majorca are popular in Deia or Deya which is
located on the north-west coast of the island approximately 40 minutes
from Palma by car and is a quiet and tranquil paradise in a really
stunning location. Deia is one of the smallest and quite possibly one of
the most beautiful villages in Majorca. The village nestles in the
Tramuntana mountains, dominated by the hill top village church, and is
approximately twenty minutes from the sea. The English poet and writer
Robert Graves lived here and made the town famous for being a haven for
artists, musicians and writers. Deia is the ideal place to book
self-catering accommodation in Majorca to spend a holiday, relaxing,
watching the world go by or exploring this idyllic location.
How do you get to Deia?
There
are flights to Palma airport in Majorca from over 25 UK airports. There
is a Palma to Soller bus service that stops in Deia. Do you need to
hire a car? Not unless you want to. Deia is just 30-35 minutes by taxi
from Palma Airport, and the village is small so everywhere is within
walking distance.
Holiday accommodation
There
is a wide range of accommodation available in Deia, from simple,
inexpensive guest houses to hotels - plus apartment holiday rentals in
Deia Majorca or holiday villa rentals Majorca for those who prefer that
option. If there is no self-catering accommodation Majorca available in
the village, the lovely town of Soller is just 10 Km (6 miles) up the
coast.
Eating Out

self-catering accommodation in Majorca or who just like eating out there
are plenty of restaurants and bars. Deia has about sixteen restaurants,
offering international cuisine, from local specialities and tapas to
pizzas. There are also a couple of nice little restaurants down at La
Cala, Deia's beach, which do fresh fish. A couple of the small bars
occasionally have visiting musicians who may play an impromptu set with
many of the locals and visitors staying in villa rentals Majorca joining
in.
Walking for Pleasure
Deia is a
paradise for walkers and climbers, especially for those who book villa
rentals in Majorca during the early months of the year. The coastal road
is very beautiful and you can take some lovely walks - though perhaps
not in August when it is very hot. The coastal walk between Deia and
Llucalcari is particularly recommended. Many walks are sign posted from
the village with the approximate time the walk will take. From 'Son
Canals' it takes approximately 20 minutes to walk down to the calla and
from there you can continue to Soller, if you wish.

excellent restaurants, while the narrow medieval streets are great to
have a leisurely stroll round. It also has a very good market on a

Beaches
The
main beach for those staying in villa rentals Majorca or apartment
holiday rentals in Deia Majorca can be found in a small cove about half a
mile down hill from the village. Cala de Deia is a small, picturesque
cove with a shingle beach surrounded by steep, jagged cliffs. A narrow
road descends through a wooded ravine from Deia to the cove. At one time
the beach was used by fishermen who also had vegetable plots and
vineyard terraces on the surrounding land. The cove's cool, clean waters
are very appealing to visitors as well as local people. Two other small
beaches can be found at Lluc Alcari and Son Marroig a couple of miles
away from the village.
