The town El Médano is located in the Granadilla de Abona municipality on the
Tenerife Island which is one of the Canary Islands. The word El Médano literally
means the Sand Dune. This place is in the south coast of Tenerife and is at a
short distance from the airport; this is the coolest resort on the island.
The wind in this place is very strong, thereby making it an ideal place for

still popular in the world for kitesurfing windsurfing spots. It has 3 different
spots for windsurfing and these are the Bay, the Harbor Wall and Cabezo
beach.
Two of the largest natural beaches in Tenerife are - Playa Tejita and Playa
Grande and El Médano is situated near these beaches. The Red Mountain is a
volcanic cone that is located between the two beaches and it has been declared
as a protected natural reserve.
Brother Peter of Saint Joseph Betancur spent some of his time in the cave
